Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify the traditional claims and evaluate the bark of Alangium salvifolium in organic solvents to screen the antidiabetic activity. The ethanol, and water extracts of Alangium salvifolium bark were obtained and subjected for phytochemical screening and evaluated for their antidiabetic activity in alloxan induced diabetic rats. From the acute toxicity study it was observed that ethanol, and aqueous extracts of Alangium salvifolium bark are non-toxic at a fixed dose of 2000 mg/kg. Ethanol and aqueous extracts had exhibited significant (P
